Quiet Zones

The Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council is working with the Palm Beach County MPO to coordinate Quiet Zones. Draft document link below is an update on where the process stands currently.

Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway opened up the east coast to development, and the successor company, Florida East Coast Industries, is planning to bring passenger rail back for the first time since 1968.

Once quiet zones are established, the noise level in the corridor should improve dramatically. Neighborhoods along the corridor should welcome the arrival of AAF, as it will be a great transportation option, and quiet zones will make the noise level even less than it was before AAF, lessening the noise of the existing freight trains and any new passenger rail service.
