I recently moved into “Evernia Place” at 631 Evernia Street. I have a state-of-the-art apartment, I am a senior and most things here are well planned and accessible. However, I feel I need to bring to your attention that the parking places here around this building are not in compliance with the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) . I am handicapped and most people here are also in one way or another. Our daily deliveries, nurses, homemakers and most importantly the door-to-door Palm Tran services have no place to lower their lift except in the street of which they are not allowed to do! We should not have a curb in front of this building, we should be level with the street, so the handicapped can board their busses by a “lift”. There are other things that have to be looked at also. I personally am in a wheelchair and need these accomodations and so do many others who live here. I was a commissioner for the handicapped in the town of South Yarmouth, Cape Cod, MA. I also worked as an activist for the handicapped and the elderly. I am one of those who helped the ADA laws get enacted. My work was done during the years of 90’s to 1992. I would like to hear from your handicap committee so we may have an answer to our concerns. My tel. no. is: 561-469-6778.
