Your input is needed. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is updating the Florida Transportation Plan (FTP) and the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Plan. To kickoff this process, FDOT hosted Florida’s Transportation Visioning Summit on December 17, 2014 to engage its partners and the public in the visioning process. Over 200 people attended and thank you to all who participated.

To hear from even more people from around the state, five Transportation Visioning Regional Forums are scheduled for February. See the attached flyer. The Regional Forum for Southeast Florida is scheduled on February 5, 2015. It will be held in the Delray Beach Old School Square Gymnasium. Directions are provided at the end of this e-mail.

Thursday February 5, 2015

Delray Beach Old School Square
51 North Swinton Avenue
Delray Beach, Florida 33444
1:00-5:00 p.m.

Florida’s Transportation Visioning Regional Forums provide an opportunity for transportation and other partners and the public to provide their thoughts about the state’s transportation system of the future and to suggest bold ideas to achieve this future. Input is needed to identify and address transportation at all levels – statewide, regional, and local.

We hope you will consider attending one or more of these forums and request that you forward the flyer to your contact lists. You are encouraged to sign up in advance via the link below to help us plan for the event. Walk-ins on the day of the event are welcome as well.

more about the FTP and SIS Plan:

The FTP is a plan for all of Florida. The plan defines Florida’s future transportation vision and identifies goals, objectives, and strategies to guide long term transportation decisions. The FTP addresses how our transportation system can meet the needs of a growing population, while helping make our economy globally competitive, our communities more livable, and our environment more sustainable for future generations. It establishes the policy framework for expenditure of state and federal transportation funds flowing through the work program of the FDOT. The FTP goals and objectives also provide guidance to all other transportation partners as they develop and implement future policies, plans, and projects.

A key focus for the state is Florida’s SIS, the statewide high-priority network of transportation facilities critical to Florida’s economic competitiveness. The SIS Plan identifies policies for planning for the SIS and implementing the FTP.

The Gymnasium is north of the Crest Theater in Old School Square and its entrance faces NE 1st Street.

Free parking is available in the Old School Square garage. Entry to the garage is from NE 2nd Avenue. Parking also is available on the street and in other municipal lots.

If taking Tri-Rail or other transit services, the Delray Beach Downtown Roundabout (trolley service) provides flag service along Atlantic Avenue (http://mydelraybeach.com/news/2012/03/07/downtown-roundabout-trolley).
